The Story
of BESTA
Our 50-Year Legacy
For nearly five decades, BESTA has evolved from polyurethane paint and specialist finishing into an integrated practice spanning colour systems, refined surfaces and interior elements.
Our experience is reflected not only in the appearance of a colour, but also in our understanding of materials, surface preparation, application and the smallest details that define the quality of a finished piece.

An Expertise Shaped Through Making
BESTA’s story was not shaped by a single transformation. It developed gradually through years of working directly with colour, materials and real production challenges.
What began with polyurethane paint grew into a deeper understanding of surfaces—eventually extending into in-house paint development, interior production and comprehensive project support.
1970s
Foundations in Colour and Finish
BESTA began by working with polyurethane paint for furniture, doors, cabinet fronts and interior elements. This early experience established a fundamental belief: a refined finish cannot be separated from its material, preparation and the skill behind its application.
1990s
Mastering the Finishing Process
Continuous hands-on practice allowed BESTA to develop deeper expertise in sanding, layered application, gloss control and surface consistency—forming the foundation of our specialist finishing capabilities.
2000s
Developing Our Own Paint Systems
Our finishing experience led BESTA to develop paint systems that could meet our own expectations for colour and surface quality—from polyurethane finishes and water-based furniture coatings to colours formulated for specific materials and projects.
2010s
From Surfaces to Interior Elements
Our knowledge of colour and finishing naturally expanded into the design and production of doors, cabinet fronts, furniture and decorative wall elements—allowing colour, surface and construction details to be considered as one complete process.

BESTA Today
Today, BESTA brings colour, finishing, production and design together—supporting homeowners, architects, interior designers, contractors and brands seeking greater precision in both colour and finished production.

It Began with the Surface
For BESTA, finishing has never begun with spraying alone. It begins with understanding the material beneath the colour.
Surface preparation, edges and joints, primers, intervals between coats, sanding and final inspection all influence the resulting shade, level of sheen and tactile character of a finished piece.
Over decades of practice, we have encountered a wide range of production challenges—from inconsistent surfaces and unclear reflections to work requiring repeated correction. These experiences taught us that consistency is never created by a single step. It comes from paying attention to the complete process.
This understanding of surfaces became the foundation of everything BESTA does—from paint development and specialist finishing to production and bespoke colour creation.

A refined surface is not created by the final coat alone. It is built through every step that comes before it.
From Specialist Finishing to an Integrated Colour and Surface Practice
As the needs of design and production evolved, BESTA expanded beyond the creation of refined surfaces to consider how colour, material, space and application could work together as one system.

Colour Beyond the Swatch
BESTA has evolved from offering standard shades to developing colours for individual projects.
We consider how colour changes under different lighting conditions and how it interacts with material and sheen. The same shade can create a very different impression when applied to a wall, a door or a piece of furniture.

Finishes That Shape Colour
From traditional polyurethane finishing, BESTA developed surfaces with more distinctive visual and tactile characters—from the depth and clarity of Super High Gloss to the understated smoothness of Silky Touch Matte.
Sheen is not merely a technical specification. It shapes how colour is perceived and how a space ultimately feels.

From Furniture to Interior Space
BESTA’s colour and finishing expertise began with furniture and built-in elements before expanding into doors, cabinet fronts, decorative walls and interior objects.
By considering both finishing and production, we can create greater continuity across a space—from wall colour to the surfaces of doors, furniture and architectural details.
Built Through Time, Consistency and Practice
Behind every finished piece is knowledge developed through continued practice—learning from materials, resolving production challenges and collaborating with people across different fields of design and construction.

BESTA Today
One Expertise, Connecting Colour, Surface, Object and Space
BESTA today is more than a paint manufacturer or specialist finishing service. We are an integrated colour and surface practice connecting formulation, finishing, production and design.
Our work ranges from colour selection, sampling and bespoke development to factory-controlled surface preparation and finishing. This expertise is further expressed through doors, furniture, cabinet fronts, decorative walls and objects created for interior spaces.
The experience of our past remains the foundation of BESTA. As technologies, design perspectives and ways of living continue to change, we continue to develop more relevant colours, surfaces and processes—without losing the attention to detail that can only be built through practice.

Colour Systems for Real Spaces
Standard, curated and bespoke colours developed in relation to light, material and the atmosphere of each space.

Surfaces Defined by Sight and Touch
From the visual depth of Super High Gloss and the softness of Silky Touch Matte to water-based furniture finishes developed for interior applications.

Turning Surface Knowledge into Objects
Doors, furniture, cabinet fronts, walls and interior elements that translate colour and finishing expertise into form and function.

From Design Intent to Production
Project support for architects, designers, contractors, developers and brands—covering colour development, specialist finishing, production and quality control.
Nearly five decades represent more than BESTA’s history. They form the foundation from which we continue to explore new ways of working with colour, surface and space.
